Dear Joanna,
Just wanted to drop you a note to say THANK YOU! I've been enjoying
your DVD's so much, they're such a great help to me. I'm not
overweight, but i would still like to lose that one size in addition
to increasing my fitness level. Your "drop a size for life" DVD is
perfect!
I've been using it for a month now and i'm already seeing
results. Today i received the 28 day body plan DVD and already love
it. I usually hate work out programs, but yours is fun and keeps me
going with a smile on my face. I could never imagine ME working out
and SMILING! I've tried different diets and taken advice from
different "experts". But they either didn't work, or they made me ill.
Out of all the DVD's, programs and diets i've tried, yours is the only
one which really works and which is really safe!! With other fitness
DVD's i've experienced joint pains and even tendon problems, but never
with your workouts.

I discovered Joanna when my friend Emma Hills went on a weight loss program with Joanna on This Morning with Richard and Judy in 2001. Emma and I are still in contact and good friends. I came to the studio to watch filming once and met Joanna. I was really impressed at how friendly and enthusiastic she is. I have been a fan ever since.
I used Joanna’s workout videos and DVD’s after the birth of both my children and got good results. Now I use them to maintain my weight and fitness. I am living in Florida, United States and wish that the DVD’s were available in US format as I had to buy a multi region player just to do Joanna workout’s – but it’s worth it I would be lost without her!

9llb Lost in my first month.......
Dear Joanna,
I just wanted to say a big thank-you for being such a great person.
I've been over-weight for many years on an have tried every new diet
out there. A friend at work had been following your 'No Carbs after
5pm Diet' and following your '28 day total body plan' and told me to
give it a try. I thought at first it was going to be just one of those
still plans but was I wrong. I changed my eating habits which was hard
at first and got into doing the workout plan which had me building up a
sweat no trouble. At first I did not notice a big change, but I had
measured all my body parts, had my body fat count done and weight.
Four weeks on I've lost 9llb in weight which was a big shock, my body
fat count was at 38% and now its 34% an in all I've lost just over 15
inches all over my body. I've dropped two dress sizes which is out of
this world. I am just starting my second month an hope to keep up the
good work. I've never felt so fit, so full of energy an get up an go.
What can I say I've gone from being over weight which I've been for
many years to having a body I like now. If anyone was thinking that
Joanna Hall's plans dont work thing again.....THEY DO... This is one
very happy lady who has spent years on diets, trying all types of sad
not very nice new food, reading books an magazines which did not help.

Dear Joanna
I am writing to thank you for the great plan and advice in your new book "The 24 Hour Diet". I have lost over three stone over the last couple of years but it seems that since I got engaged last year I have hit a weight loss plateau! I am getting married in July this year but found that, despite a pretty healthy diet and regualr exercise, the scales were just not moving in the right direction.
Last week I was very downbeat because I really didn't think I was going to be a slim bride! So I bought your book on Sunday and started the 24 hour diet on Monday and followed it up immeditately with the 3 day cleanse. Today is Friday and I am delighted to report that I have lost 5.5lbs in the four days. I didn't see a huge move on the scales immediately but this morning when I stepped on the scales I was over the moon. I am so glad I stuck to the plan - it was easy and very satisfying - although I forgot to eat all my sanity snacks!
I had already been following the carb curfew ® principal but was letting myself slip too often. Now I have had such a great boost I am going to be more motivated than ever not to ruin things by letting things go wild at weekends or having the odd bit of bread or potatoes in the evening.
My juicer now has a permanent home on my worktop (and it aint going back into the cupboard!) and I am going to stick to your all great advice and rules as well as having a cleanse day every Monday. And I am going to enjoy all the great recipes in your other books such as Crustless Vegetable and Pesto Quiche and Provencale Poached Chicken and Vegetables - my current favourite dinners!
And just to make sure that, along with gym workouts, I do enough exercise, I have entered The MoonWalk Edinburgh in June - a power walking marathon to raise funds for Breast Cancer. It will require lots of walking / training in the next 18 weeks but I have already persuaded some of my colleagues to sign up with me and start walking at lunchtimes to get us away from our desks!
Now I believe I can be a slim bride!!

9.5 lbs in 28 days, Fantastic.
I note that you do not get much feed back from men, but we too have
problems with our weight, and in this modern world, the perfect male
body is thrown at us all the time.
I was 14st 4 and now 13st 8.5 and still going. I work as a massage
therapist, and am reasonably muscular hence I am heavier that the BMI
would suggest, but in the 14's my tummy was out there...... now
colleges are calling me Skinny, which is great...
I have tried many eating plans from Weight Watchers, Slimming World
through to Atkins, and all work to a certain extent if you stick with
them, but I have to say the No Carbs After Five diet has been great.
From the start the diet was so easy to stick too, I have never bothered
to fill out charts before, but just got into this from the first day
and I have to say it really keeps your motivation going as you can see
your progression, and is so quick and easy.
From day one, I thought, "I am going to feel hungry", but I have not. I
have snacked on loads of fruit, I have to say that the book does not
note any volume of fruit allowed, and I have on occasion eaten loads,
in the back of my mind I thought I might be going over the top, but no,
the pounds kept coming off.
I would also like to note that I have broken the plan on four occasions
during the 28 days, due to eating out. But I used the portion
distortion ideas and tried my best to limit the 'damage' but on one
particular Sunday I really went mad, however, putting myself back on
track the next day, this blow out seemed to cause no problem at all,
this was a great revelation to me, as going 'off' a diet can make you
give up all together and there will be times in real life when you have
to eat things you would not other wise choose (dinner parties etc.).
I think one of the key pluses for me though is the walking and tummy
exercises. I quite like to work out at the gym, but often in a busy
life do not get the time, or when I do I feel too tired. The walking
has been great, straight out the front door and off, all done and
dusted before the day has really begun, and if like me it is done first
thing you feel set up for the day. In fact another advantage of the
diet is because it makes you feel so good, as you are cutting out
processed food etc. you end up with more hours in the day, I now
regularly wake up 1.5 hours earlier feeling totally rested and use this
time to get the exercise done.

Already, because Ive been walking and counting my steps, my jeans feel looser and my stomach is less bloated - however......
Its about FOG soup - its totally delicious - absolutely just as good as you promised and I urge everyone who hasnt already to try it - its quick, easy, tasty and very very filling - as well as the title suggests, good for us ;-).

Just felt I had to contact you to let you know how happy I am with your Drop a Size for Life DVD. I had my second child on Christmas day 2003 and shortly afterwards was a size 12. Before becoming pregnant I was a size 10/12 and I used to do aerobics 1-2 times a week, being a working mum this was all I could fit in. Since having the baby I tried getting back into exercising with the videos I had at home but found I was bored with them and decided to try yours. I started off with the cardio calorie burn and midriff management routines which I felt were really easy to follow, after a while I added the metabolism booster to my workout and I have been just amazed with the results. I am now a size 8/10 which I am so happy with, not only that but having always been what I call a drainpipe shape (no waist) I have found that I have finally got some shape, I only have time to workout once a week now, but feel that this is more than enough to maintain the size and shape I have got to.
Thanks for a fantastic DVD, it's been "the best thing since sliced bread," for me, and I have done and will continue to recommend it to all of my friends, and anyone else who asks.

I have been doing your 'drop a dress size for life' DVD, I don't have much time for telly, you know work, 2 teenage children and a 3yrs old, sorry but I had no idea who you were, but was fed up paying for a gym membership I never got around to using, so when I was rushing round sainsburys I had a quick look at the fitness DVDs, yours was the only one presented by some one who had a background in the fitness industry, had short work outs to target problem areas and looked like I could fit in between picks ups, drop offs, husbands dinner and bed time routines! after I watched it I then started to follow the 'curb curfew' diet, that was 4 months ago, I am 5ft'7ins and before my weight was 11st 2lbs and a size 14 now it is 9st 3lbs and a size 10! and I have loads of energy. I only follow the DVD 3 times a week now, but go cycling with the children twice a week and do about an hours walk with a good friend as often as we can! but I still follow the diet ( even on holiday in Tenerife I managed to lose 3lbs )
My question is, now I do the DVD less often I tend to do the metabolic booster straight after the cardio fat burner, do I still have to follow the cool down on the fat burner section or can I use the warm up on the metabolic booster?

I am so pleased you have found my programmes delivers results - you are like so many of my clients and people I have helped - juggling life, family and fitness - it can be really stressful so I strive to provide programmes that are totally effective - so well done you!
Re : your question on cool down / warm up; Yes, you can save yourself time and use the cool down of the first workout you are doing as the warm up of the second. The only cautionary points I would make are:
1. Make sure there is not too much time between doing the two workouts - keep them back to back.
and
2. Make sure you do complete the cool down of the final workout.
Keep up the good work - I am just about to start filming my new DVD which will be out Dec 28th - so your feedback is a real incentive to me and to others.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for your books and DVDs, I have many of them!
Both my partner and myself follow the 'Carb Curfew ®' and do your DVDs ('Drop a Dress Size' both versions).
Your DVDs are fun to join in with as well as work really well and can't believe the changes in our bodies!
We are due to go on a big holiday to Cuba, so wanted to look our best.
I had ME a few years back and went from being very active to not having the energy to get out of bed, which at times I revert back to! So by being able to do an energetic workout or a 10 minute tummy or leg workout it suits me on a day to day basis
A question to you is when are you releasing another? (Please say soon!)

Your Carb Curfew ® diet has been a god-send. I am one of those people who isn't drastically overweight, but try as I might I could not shift those last 10lbs that seemed to sit on my hips for the last few years. We are constantly hearing about weight-loss success stories from people who have dropped four dress sizes and feel fantastic, but I am lucky to be in a position to need to lose pounds rather than stones.
Dieting however, is difficult no matter how much you have to lose. I have tried all sorts of different approaches to losing weight, but your Carb Curfew ® is the only one that has truly done the job.
I am now happy that the dreaded 'love handles' have almost disappeared! By watching my carb/fat intake during the day, along with eating more fruit and veg and less processed foods, my whole well being is so much more in tune. I used to get incredibly tired during the day, but because I have adopted your approach to eating 'good' carbs instead of 'bad' ones I can now follow this long term without feeling deprived or hungry, thus having loads of energy. Even if I go 'off track' at the week-ends I know I can get back to the plan during the week and still stay at my goal weight. I have been telling everyone about the book, and already lots of my friends have bought it and have started to follow the plan. So many thanks to you for this straight forward, non-faddy approach.

The long and short of it is.. I was very
active before marrying and having my son.
During pregnancy I ate for the entire population
of England and blew up to 15st at 29yrs old...eeeekkk,
especially at 5'6"...!
My marriage was terrible and after 1 1/2
years with a 5 month old baby son my husband
decided he didn't want to play daddy/husband
anymore.. put that one down to experience,
which I will not be repeating!!!
Since then, 5 years ago, I have been off
and on anti depressants. Reading your book,
following the carb' curfew and drop a size
for life video I have started to regain my
confidence...and waist!
The psychological aspect of the book is
brilliant, mental and physical health go
hand in hand; I have come off antidepressants
and I'm feeling totally in control of my
life and future, and to the joy of my son...lots
of energy. I still have bad days, but then
I think of my achievements and what a lovely
son I have and I have started a degree with
the open university.
I am now 10st 9oz and still reducing and
a size 12 rather than 'sack size'...one size
fits all!!!

old son thought it funny to jump on her during
her ab routine, she is not alone! I have 4
daughters aged from 8 down to one and my one
year old definitely loves to jump on me when
